Hello!  Happy January!  I have been enjoying some time off, followed by working only very part-time while easing back into things this year!  I had planned to be back full force this week, but alas, we were struck by the flu in our house – my youngest has been home from school all week, so I’ve extended my part-time schedule to make time for extra snuggles while nursing her back to health.  I’m excited for next week when things will go back to ‘normal’ – I have so many plans for 2013 – I can hardly decide where to begin!  So – for now, I’ll work on catching up the blog, by posting this lovely family who drove over from Greenville, TX for our session, and Harry Myers Park was the perfect setting!  I couldn’t believe how grown Miss Ella was – I did her newborn portraits back in March – you can check them out here.

It’s always difficult to have to wait to share images from these commercial shoots – but of course, I can’t share before the items are shared with their customers and fans!  This shoot was done back in October, and included a lot of holiday goodies – and the models were so adorable!

This sweet family ended up having to reschedule after we had some questionable weather on mini-session day – but it worked out perfectly, because we had beautiful light on the second date!  These girls are so sweet, and almost exactly the same ages as MY girls!  It’s like I get to pretend what it would be like to photograph cooperative daughters (mine have PCS – Photographer’s Child Syndrome).  This also was my fastest session of the fall – we were finished in less than 15 minutes (may have even been 10!).  Here’s a quick series from one of the spots we shot at:

I am absolutely in love with our Winter Wonderland set that we used for holiday studio mini’s this year!  I have since used it for a newborn, as well as another family’s studio pictures – I love that it’s not limited to just Christmas pictures, but can also work for winter – even January – and it’s mostly neutral, which lets the kids shine, which is really the point, isn’t it?

How cool is it that this Dad/Daughter duo thought to have portraits taken together?  We usually think of trying to capture our kids when they are little when they are changing so fast – but then something happens when they get a little bit older, and we tend not to document with professional portraits as often.  But how special will it be down the road, to have these to look back on?  I was able to capture a bit of ‘cool’ – but also managed to get that sweet daddy-daughter bond between these two…
